lil psa bc i’m angry!!!!!!!

i know that gluten free is a pretty popular diet choice right now, and i know from experience that it’s a huge pain to ensure that food is gluten free, but please please please take it seriously when someone requests it.

i had an allergic reaction this weekend that i’m still recovering from. but that’s all too difficult because of the fact that my reaction was caused and prolonged by a lack of seriousness. my supposedly “allergy free’ food was prepared with the same gloves, on the same table, and touched food that makes me break out into hives like in the pictures all over my body.

i know it’s a pain to defrost the nasty fake bread, or get a new pan whenever i order food, or to even check if you have gluten free options. i’ ve seen people roll their eyes when i ask about gluten free options. hell, i waitressed for three years!! i know how annoying it is!! but please please realize that for a lot of people, being gluten free is not a choice. by not taking that few extra seconds to ensure a safe meal, you are literally poisoning me, and possibly risking my life.

when i go through these reactions, my throat swells, my body is completely covered in these itchy, red hives, and i have to religiously take steroids and benadryl. i am unable to work, go to class, take my finals because of this. i’ve been to the hospital three times in the past two days. it affects my life completely, and it’s so frustrating because there is absolutely nothing i can do about it.

so all i’m asking is that you don’t automatically scoff when someone asks for gluten free, and you take the few seconds to ensure a safe meal for someone. because for a lot of people, this is something we have to deal with on a daily basis, and it’s not fair that we should suffer from other’s laziness.
